A MAN has appeared before Leeds Crown Court charged with a York murder committed more than 10 years ago.
David Roustoby, 44, attended the hearing via a video link from HMP Durham.
He is alleged to have killed David Clarke, 43, of Huntington Road, York, in April 2007.
The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Guy Kearl QC, heard from barristers representing the prosecution and the defence before adjourning the case until May 13.
Mr Clarke’s body was found in the River Foss near Towthorpe on April 18, 2007.
Roustoby, of Rawcliffe Lane, York, was charged last week with murdering him between April 16 and April 19, 2007, and appeared before York Magistrates Court sitting at Leeds Magistrates Court on Saturday.
Because he was charged with murder, he could not apply for bail from a magistrates court.
He was remanded in custody.
All murder cases are listed as soon as practical before a crown court so that defendants can, if they want to, apply for bail.
He was therefore given a hearing before the most senior judge in Leeds.
He was not expected to formally enter his plea.
