Where is the Government exit strategy? Pure logic suggests that test, test test is the way ahead. The objective was 100,000 tests a day: so far 35,000 is the paltry result! Why?

A few weeks ago I was on a bus with a passenger uncontrollably coughing, spitting and wheezing with no care for who he infected.

Some time later I felt during a painful night that I was gasping my last breath, my only salvation was placing my head upon the floor, my body above my head.

A few days and nights followed using this same formula for survival.

I am writing this - therefore by pure logic I survived. Did I have this Covid-19 devil? Only science through testing can deduce this. I am surely one of many on that bus that day; I hope they too survived. Testing, testing , testing is our way out of this.

We must take a long, hard look at social care once this is all over

It is vital that the Government delivers on its promise to support social care with better testing and protective equipment. But we also need real, positive and bold action for social care’s future. We need a long-term solution that will give it the funding it needs to recognise and reward workers who have been vital during coronavirus.

We need one body that manages NHS and social care to replace the splintered system we have now.

When this madness is over, remember social care, don’t let it slip back to where it was but grab this opportunity for change.
