A NORTH Yorkshire man who ran a half marathon in his garage has almost quadrupled his fundraising target.
Ben Nolan, a keen runner from Scarborough, ran the half marathon on Saturday on a treadmill in his garage Scalby Road.
All of the money he has raised will be donated to supporting Saint Catherine’s Hospice - which is now at a total of £1,475.
The runner set himself a target to raise £350 for the charity, which he has now almost quadrupled.
Ben, 46, said: “I wanted to help after hearing about how fundraising events had been cancelled and charity shops closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I hoped by doing this it would generate a bit of interest and hopefully spur others on to think about what they could do to help.”
Ben and his family are no stranger to fundraising for Sant Catherine’s Hospice.
Last year, Ben’s daughter Loretta and her friend, Lani set up a jewellery stall in their school to raise funds as Loretta’s grandma, Sheila, was cared for by Saint Catherine’s, as was Lani’s grandma, Margaret.
Ben’s JustGiving page is still open for donations and can be found at: bit.ly/3anmJOQ
