YORK’S district judge has barred a man from a woman’s home to prevent her being subjected to more domestic abuse.

She has visible injuries, York Magistrates Court sitting in Leeds was told.

North Yorkshire Police were so concerned about her safety, they applied for a domestic violence protection order against Samuel Myers.

District judge Adrian Lower granted the application because he believed on the evidence before him that the 32-year-old man had probably assaulted the woman, who has a York address.

Mr Myers, now of Fletton Road, Norton, is now forbidden to go to the woman’s home.

He is also forbidden to molest her or have any contact with her at all, including by any social media, through the internet or via a third person, among other conditions.

The civil order lasts for 28 days. Calls to domestic abuse hotlines have increased massively since the lockdown began.
