CHILDREN saw Santa fly by in an airplane before landing and transferring to his usual mode of transport at a Christmas party.
Around 20 children at the Peter Pan Nursery in Sherburn-in-Elmet attended a Christmas party at RAF Church Fenton organised by staff and students from the Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron.
Santa was seen to fly by in a Tutor aircraft before landing and getting into his sleigh to deliver presents to the children.
The nursery is a non-profit making charity and relies on donations and support from the local community.
To this end Squadron Leader David Hicks presented a cheque for £500 which was raised by the students at their charity auction, to the nursery's Brenda Thornton. Squadron Leader Andy Paul also gave her a cheque for £60 which was collected from officers of No 3 Squadron which gives flying lessons to students from RAF Church Fenton.
