Flood warnings remain in place for the River Ouse in York city centre and at Naburn Lock.
Rainfall combined with snowmelt means that flooding of properties, gardens, roads and paths is possible today, the Environment Agency says.
Water levels in the River Ouse are expected continue to rise slowly and to peak at between 3.7m (12ft 2in) and 3.9m (12ft 9in) in the city centre on Sunday evening.
"Further rain and snow is forecast over the weekend which will keep river levels high and possibly rising further," the Agency said. "The Foss Barrier is in operation and flood gates are closed."
There are also flood warnings for the River Derwent at Stamford Bridge and at Buttercrambe Mill, and a flood alert for the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Wharfe at Cawood, where 'flooding of roads and farmland remains possible', the Agency said.
