Ewe and lamb killed in hut fire
A ewe and a lamb were killed when a fire broke out in a sheep hut holding sheep and cattle.
Fire crews from Whitby and Lythe were called out to the fire at Mickleby, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, yesterday morning.
A farmer had already managed to put out the fire with a hose reel. Fire crews further dampened down the hut.
"Sadly one lamb and ewe died in the fire," a fire service spokesperson said.
A faulty heating lamp is blamed.
