A YOUNG girl from North Yorkshire is set to take on the tough challenge of walking all three of the Yorkshire three peaks in 12 hours to support a charity.

Isabella Scott, 10, will be completing the task to support Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, after her grandad was diagnosed with the disease, which there is currently no cure for.

Isabella, who attends Riverside Primary School in Tadcaster, said: "It made me really sad to know my grandad is poorly and there isn’t a cure for him. So, I want to help find a cure to help him and other people that have this disease."

To do her bit to find a cure, the youngster decided to complete the Yorkshire three peaks in the summer holidays, to raise awareness and money for those living with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

The challenge is a 24-mile hike over the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, and they are aiming to complete it within 12 hours.

"I am walking lots to get ready for my challenge with my dog Poppy, my mummy, our best friend Jess and her crazy dog Narla," Isabella added.

Her mum, Mary Scott, who will also be taking part in the walk, said: "I am so proud of my little lady. For her to take on this particular challenge amazes me, it’s not an easy one by any means, especially for a 10-year-old.

"She is currently training hard and is so excited.

"The charity is close to our hearts and have been so supportive to us. She wants to raise as much money as she can to help fight this horrible disease."

Louise Wright, CEO of Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, said: "We are so grateful to Isabella for taking on this incredible feat for people affected by lung fibrosis."
