LINZI Gatman is on a mission to supply free books to the Children’s Ward at York Hospital.
Linzi, 36, who lives in Coxwold with her husband Scott, 33, and two daughters, Isla, one, and Freya, two, is looking to raise £600 to supply the books to York Hospital.
Working hand-in-hand with Usborne Books At Home, she has the has the ability to increase funds raised by another 60 per cent, to give the ward a fantastic £960.00 worth of new resources.
“Having the opportunity to put so many beautiful books into the hands of children is extremely rewarding,” said Linzi.
“Usborne Books are a publisher who are quite renowned for their books, both educational and fictional, and a lot of schools and nurseries use them, following the curriculum. They also help teachers with lesson plans. There are a lot of independent Usborne organisers who help get these books into the hands of children,” added Linzi, who has worked with Usborne since 2020 and “loved every minute of it”.
“What we also do is have community book pledges to try and raise funds to be able to provide books to schools, hospitals and libraries and the likes who have lower budgets. I really wanted to focus on the NHS. Obviously they’ve taken a huge hit due to Covid and their budgets are very depleted.
“The books I would like to donate to the ward, as a result of the fundraiser, would give the children some quality time with parents, sat at their bedside reading them a story, or independently reading to learning something new they can tell their friends about when they return to school. Any amount is gratefully received in the hope we can meet this target.”
