FIREFIGHTERS were called out to two separate incidents where manure spontaneously burst in to flames.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called out to the first incident at 8.45pm last night to Carlton near Selby on arrival they found the straw and horse manue well alight. They put the fire out and say it's believed to have been caused by spontaneous combustion.
The second incident occurred at 3.37am today when a crew from Easingwold were called out to Birdforth to attended an incident involving a muck heap, surrounded by railway sleepers, on fire. Again the cause is believed to be spontaneous combustion.
