North Yorkshire Police have reported five crashes already today (Good Friday).
A spokesperson said: "Just gone noon and we've already had five reports of collisions today.
"The roads in North Yorkshire are very busy. There's an enhanced police presence to keep everyone safe.
"We have marked and unmarked police vehicles covering: villages, suburbs and other residential areas, A-roads, B-roads and rural routes in Ryedale, Craven, Hambleton, Richmondshire, York, Selby and then East coast, including Scarborough and Whitby.
"Please remember to take it steady, stay aware and drive to arrive. Stay safe."
