I was astounded to read that ERL propose to demolish the Victorian parts of Bootham Park Hospital (Bootham Park plans a ‘missed opportunity’, says MP, March 31).
I believe that these parts of the building are protected by grade 2 listing. I feel that the citizens of York must be given an explanation as to how this can happen. The definition of a grade 2 listing states such buildings and structures are protected by law being of special interest and warranting preservation and protection.
I would like an explanation from the local planning authority how they intend to exercise their responsibilities required by law.
