A COUPLE from York, described as “wonderful and caring” by those who know them, are fundraising to help with IVF treatment - in the hope they can achieve their dream of building a family.
Simon and Minnie Lansell, who were married in 2013, have been struggling with infertility for around eight years, after Minnie was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome.
After going through various treatments with different types of medication which were unsuccessful, the couple have now been advised that private IVF treatment is their best hope.
Minnie and Simon have launched a donation page, in the hope of raising the funds to pay for the IVF treatment.
On the donation page, the pair wrote: “We have conquered many challenges together and will face whatever comes next hand in hand.
“Throughout our many setbacks, two things have prevailed - our dream to be parents and our strength together.
“We have names in mind and hopes for the joy a child will bring to our lives.
“Two’s company, three’s a dream.”
Any funds raised will go directly to cover the cost of the medical treatment, the procedures, tests and medications.
One of their friends, Michelle Arthur, said: “These two wonderful people are the kindest people you would ever meet, and they truly deserve the joy of having their own children.
“They have always been very hard working people, always doing what they can to help others with anything, giving to others with no expectations of recompense.”
The couple’s issues with infertility have caused challenges with mental health, but they say that the dream of a family is the “light at the end of the tunnel”.
Outside of work, Minnie enjoys spending a lot of time volunteering with Girlguiding, crafting and writing. Meanwhile, Simon enjoys video gaming - and they both act as ‘aunt and uncle’ to all of their friends’ children.
