POLICE say there will be no prosecution following reports of illegal fox hunting near Selby last October, despite video evidence being supplied.
North Yorkshire Police said that although a number of witnesses were present, only one would give a formal statement and it was decided there was insufficient evidence to successfully bring about a case under the Hunting Act.
It said it knew this would be frustrating to the public and to its officers but it could only act within the legislation available.
However, it stressed that the force took all reports of wildlife crime very seriously.
