THIS is a call out to all of York's foodies after the city missed out on one of the fish and chip industry's biggest awards. 

The Fry Awards 2021 sees critics undertake a mystery dining visit across the country's chippys and rate them on the flakiness of the fish, the crunch of the batter, their customer service, Covid safe practices and their social media presence.

And despite having more than 20 fish and chip eateries in and around York, not one of them made the list.

The nearest venue to make Fry's 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways list was the Land & Sea in Sowerby, North Yorkshire. 

So now we're throwing the question over to you - which York fish and chip restaurants deserved to make the list? Who is the best in the business in the York area?

Meanwhile, The Fry Awards 2022 will be open for entry in May when the 10 Best Restaurant category will return too - perhaps your favourite places will make the final 50.
