THE COUNCIL is advertising for three new senior roles – two of which offer salaries of almost £100,000.
City of York Council is advertising for a director of prevention and commissioning, a director of safeguarding people and an assistant director of policy and strategy.
A job advertisement says these are three “brand new roles” which will help the city “build back better”. It says the jobs are part of a restructure of the senior management team.
It says: “We are making some significant investments to underpin our new plans, and as a result, having completed a leadership restructure we are proud to announce that we have created three brand new roles, with the intention of better serving the people and communities of York.
“In many ways we are embarking on a new journey, building back better and providing you with the opportunity to shape, lead and influence service in this great city.”
The two director roles offer salaries of up to £99,821 plus relocation fees of up to £6,740 if the successful applicants move to the city.
The assistant director role offers a salary of up to £81,644.

The advert adds: “City of York Council exists for one purpose – and that is to support the best quality of life for our residents, now and in the future.
“The council serves over 200,000 residents in and around the York area – they are our greatest assets and their prosperity, happiness, health and wellbeing is a top priority.”
