SIX York council wards had no Covid cases in a seven day period - and there are no cases in any care homes, a new report has revealed.

City of York Council's Covid data tracker report has outlined the latest improvements in infection levels across the authority's area.

It says only one ward, Fulford and Heslington, had a statistically significant rise in rates in the seven days to April 2, six had no cases at all and the rest had no statistical change.

It says no one was self isolating at York St John University after testing positive and the University of York had one person self-isolating, which compared with a peak of 331 last October.

No care homes had any confirmed Covid-19 infections as of Thursday, and the last‘outbreak’ involving two or more cases in a care home was on February 25.

In the seven days up to Easter Monday, there were seven children of primary and secondary school age who tested positive across three schools.
