York's town crier Ben Fry was in full voice on the day York opened for business after weeks of lockdown.
Standing in front of the busy tented area in Parliament Street on a chilly but sunny morning Ben was making sure everyone knew the city was back ij business.
"Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! he said, ringing his bell. "Welcome back to York one and all!"
Turning to The Press he added: "It is just so refreshing to see people out and about and looking excited to be back in York. It's great to see people having a coffee, enjoying breakfast."
Seats in the tented area are covered but in the open, and are all socially distanced, Ben added. "It means that we can be confident about welcoming people back," he said.
The town crier's main job this morning was to make sure everyone knew about the tented area - and the seats in the shade beneath.
But any business that logs onto the York BID website can book a visit from the town crier to proclaim to the world that their business is open, he added. Visit theyorkbid.com/
