A MAN was injured when a fight broke out last night on York's riverside.

North Yorkshire Police said officers went to Kings Staith following reports of a number of people fighting at about 7.45pm.

A spokesperson said that a man in his 40s was injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

They said an investigation was ongoing, including CCTV inquiries, but did not say whether any arrests were made.

They added that anyone who witnessed the incident, and had not already spoken to police should phone 101, quoting incident number 12210096720

The fight came on the first day outdoor hospitality was allowed to reopen as part of the Government's 'roadmap' out of lockdown.
