I couldn’t agree more with the churchwarden Robert Beaumont when he slated the Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell’s plans to offer a £90,000 salary to a new chief of staff (Churchwarden slates plans for Archbishop’s chief of staff with £90k salary, April 6).
I had no idea the Archbishop was going to take his proposal of the church becoming involved in politics so literally.
If he wants to indulge in wasting such sums of money on officers then he should apply to join the council.
No doubt the current administration would snap him up in an instant.
