A DRUG dealer who brought heroin and crack cocaine into North Yorkshire has been given a two-year suspended jail sentence.
Shamraze Ul-Hassain, 30, of Freshfield Gardens, Bradford, must also take part in a nine-month drug treatment programme and report to court every month when his suspended sentence will be reviewed.
North Yorkshire police say Ul-Hassan was arrested in Skipton in February 2019 when officers seized a package of drugs that had been dropped on the floor at a sports centre in Skipton.
Enquiries led officers to arrest Ul-Hassan when they seized £377 in cash and a mobile phone. During a search of Ul-Hassan’s Bradford home, officers recovered £555 cash and suspected drugs paraphernalia.
After initially pleading not guilty to four charges, on February 23 this year, he changed his plea to guilty in relation to two counts of possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply and two counts of possessing heroin with intent to supply. He was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on April 8.
A spokesman for the force said: "Members of the public can help the police to disrupt drug dealers by calling in information.
"No matter how small that piece of information is, it could help to build a bigger picture.
"To report drug dealing in your area of if you suspect someone is being exploited, call North Yorkshire Police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 in an emergency."
