BOOKINGS are "coming along well" for the new Malmaison hotel in York - which will open in York next month.
The boutique hotel has taken over the former Aviva building on Rougier Street and will have 150 guest bedrooms and suites.
The hotel will have two restaurants including the rooftop Sora, home to a stunning sky bar which will serve a selection of Asian tapas as well as cocktails while offering unrivalled views over York.
On the menu at Sora will be a fusion of traditional dishes, from sushi and steak to skewers and sticks from the Robata grill.
Specially concocted cocktails such as Cherry Blossom Negronis and Sesame Old Fashioneds will also be available.
A second restaurant, Chez Mal, is a brasserie and bar. A spokesperson said: "Chez Mal is a fresh mix of traditional steakhouse and a classic French brasserie with signature drinks amid a fun, upbeat atmosphere."
He added there was much interest in the hotel, which will open on May 20, from people wanting to stay overnight as well as use the restaurants and sky bar.
He said: "Bookings are coming along well. There is strong interest in the restaurant offerings and rooms for overnight stays.”
Rooms are still available for the opening night - with rates ranging from £89 per room for a standard double, £109 for a Club room double with Minster view, and £119 for the Club room deluxe.
