It’s outrageous that a councillor who, after serving Strensall Parish Council for over half a century, is simply discarded because he isn’t technically savvy with computers and zoom video-conferencing (Councillors who can’t do Zoom sacked, April 22).
Councillors Dennis Baxter and Raymond Maher were discarded because they don’t ‘fit in’.
Mr Baxter comes over as a hands-on type of councillor out and about meeting people and being hands on with his approach to work.
My father used to talk of two types of workmen - one who does a good day’s work and says little, and one that talks a good day’s work and does little. I’m sure the two councillors fit the first criteria and maybe the ones playing with their computers second.
Don’t Strensall council have enough funds to provide the two council members with a computer and the time to help tutor them instead of simply discarding them?
