A CROWDFUNDER for York's first LGBT+ café has reached the halfway mark of its £5,000 start up fund target.
25-year-old Nelli Mooney, the non-binary interdisciplinary artist and art director behind Lunar Café', wants to create a safe sanctuary full of rainbow cakes and coffee as well as a specialist salon.
Earlier this month Nelli told how people had already expressed their wish to hold small wedding ceremonies in the space, describing the concept as "something unexpected, unusual and lots of fun".
Now Nelli has found the café's in-house hairdresser who will be making trans customers feel like their "most authentic selves".

£3,090 has been raised in just over two weeks, leaving Nelli feeling overwhelmed by the response.
Nelli told The Press: "It feels great to be over half way to our target. We have acquired a fantastic hairdresser who will be making our trans customers feel their most authentic selves and also spoken with our future suppliers for coffee and cakes.
"We only need to find a space that will accommodate us, really, and as soon as we reach our target we will be rolling our sleeves up to open Lunar Cafe.
"We would like to thank our supporters - both donators and those who have spread the word on social media!
"The response has been wonderful and absolutely proved how Lunar Cafe is needed in York."
The crowdfunding page will be live until the end of May with a target of £5,000. You can donate to the cause here.
