YORK residents in their 40s are now able to book a jab in their home city, following a vaccine delivery to the mass vaccination centre.
For some days this week, people going on to the NHS bookings website were being told they could not get a slot in York, but would have to travel to other centres such as Elland Road, Leeds, if they wanted a first jab.
One man told The Press he had tried to book at the Askham Bar site and was told the nearest centre was Leeds, and told to call back in 48 hours.
"I know a friend and many others have had a similar experience earlier in the week," he said.
A spokeswoman for the centre that vaccine supply was outside its control, and it continued to deliver the vaccines it had been given.
But she said fresh vaccines had now arrived and people in their 40s should be able to book an appointment now.
She added that thousands of second doses had been delivered by the teams this week, which was good news.
