A 200-YEAR-OLD Quaker mental health provider based in York is expanding across the Pennines to run services in Manchester.
The Retreat, York, has purchased Hampden House in Manchester where it will provide specialist support for more people with their mental health. The Manchester service will be known as ‘The Retreat Manchester, at Hampden House’. Hampden House has been offering high quality psychological assessment and therapies in Manchester for over two decades. The skilled, specialist and experienced therapists who deliver their much-needed services from Hampden House will become part of The Retreat’s growing team, offering people expert assessments and therapy.
Dr Kim Bevan, pictured above, The Retreat’s Chief Officer (Clinical Services), said: “This is a very exciting development for us here at The Retreat. We have been looking to expand our services for some time and we hope to build on and extend the excellent services that are being provided at Hampden House.
“Everyone is very different, so we pride ourselves in being able to tailor our therapy to the needs of each person. It’s been a very worrying time for people over the last year and we hope that we can support more people going forward as we begin to welcome more people to The Retreat. We’re privileged to be in a position to offer mental health services across sites, in York, in Manchester, and Nationally with our psychological therapy and assessment services.”
The Retreat Manchester, at Hampden House will begin welcoming new people for therapy in late May, with the gradual opening for more ‘face to face’ appointments in a Covid-safe environment.
This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the UK experiences a mental health problem in any given week.
