There have once again been no Covid 19-related deaths recorded at hospitals in the York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust over the last 24 hours.
The latest figures from NHS England shows that the total number of deaths related to the virus in the York trust remains at 591.
The trust includes hospitals in York and Scarborough.
Across the UK as a whole, two more Covid-related deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the UK total of deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test to 127,605 since the pandemic began.
More than 35 million UK people (or 67 per cent of the population) have now had at least one Covid jab, while more than 17.5 million (more than one third of the population) have had a second jab.
Government figures show that more than 4.6 million people in Yorkshire and the North East have now had at least one jab, and more than 2.3 million people have received both doses, ensuring they have the strongest possible protection with a second dose.
Health secretary Matt Hancock said: "This milestone is an exceptional achievement and testament to the tireless efforts and dedication of the local NHS teams in the North East and Yorkshire who are doing everything they can to protect the most vulnerable people from this awful disease.
“Behind these numbers are lives saved and people across the region are doing themselves proud by coming forward in such numbers to get their jabs.
“The job is not done yet and I urge everyone eligible to get their appointment booked for the vaccine as soon as possible - it will protect your loved ones and it could save your life.”
