York’s weekly recorded Covid-19 rate has risen slightly over the last 24 hours.
In the seven days up to May 4, the number of Covid cases in the city was 33, up from 28 the day before. The city now has an infection rate of 15.7 cases per 100,000 of the population, up from the 13.3 cases/ 100,000 yesterday, but still below the UK average.
The majority of wards in the city still remain white on the government's interactive Covid map, indicating that they have fewer than three cases of the virus. But there are now four wards which show as green: Rawcliffe & Clifton South, which has four cases; York city centre, which has three; Fulford Road & Clementhorpe, which now has five cases; and Tang Hall, with 4.
North Yorkshire has also seen a slight rise in cases in the latest figures, with 135 cases recorded in the week to May 4, giving a rolling infection rate of 21.8/ 100,000 of the population.
Selby remains the worst affected district in the county, with 51 cases at a rolling infection rate of 56.3/ 100,000 population.
The East Riding of Yorkshire had 80 cases, at a rolling infection rate of 23.4.
