HAYLEY OWEN FUNERAL DIRECTOR
Hayley Owen, York's only FULLY QUALIFIED Lady Funeral Director, Undertaker and Embalmer, shares her personal story and how she can offer a caring and professional service for families in their time of need.
“Unusually in this line of work, I'm female and I'm fairly young.
As a teenager I did some work experience with a funeral director and immediately realised I had found my calling. I began studying at THE YORKSHIRE SCHOOL OF EMBALMING.
After four years, I passed all my exams to become a QUALIFIED EMBALMER.
Next, I trained in Norfolk where after another four or so years I became a FULLY QUALIFIED FUNERAL DIRECTOR.
Shortly after opening my own small independent business in York in December 2015, I was honoured to become chairwoman of the Yorkshire division of the BRITISH INSTITUTE OF EMBALMERS, a post I held for a year
Since December 2015, I have built up my business and arranged hundreds of burials and cremations.
I often work seven days a week will and go to great lengths to give families exactly what they want for a loved one’s funeral.
I am happy to discuss arrangements in the comfort of your own home or in my office and I can take care of everything, from a simple cremation to a burial at sea.
I can help with all kinds of funerals, from the more traditional, to 'green' and bespoke involving the likes of horse-drawn carriages and motorcycle hearses.
I can also advise on setting up pre-payment funeral plans with PERFECT CHOICE.
The National Association of Funeral Directors believes Perfect Choice funeral plans are the most robust and professionally managed pre-payment funeral plans available”.
