A MAJOR shopping centre in York is bringing in changes to its parking rules.
Vangarde at Monk's Cross provides free parking for over 1,300 cars, but there will be some changes from Friday, May 21.
From then on parking will be allowed for up to six hours with a validated ticket.
Drivers will need tickets to be validated for any stay over 4 hours, which the centre says provides more spaces for customers, by preventing non-customers using the car park for commuting or all-day parking.
Validation requires proof of purchase from any of Vangarde Shopping Park’s stores, cafés, or restaurants and is carried out at the Management Suite (located next to Prezzo) or by speaking to any member of the shopping park customer service team.
When matches are being played at the LNER Community Stadium (the first one with spectators has been confirmed as York City Knights vs Oldham on Sunday, (May, 23 3pm kick off), then parking stays over 2 hours will need validation. On match days, M&S and Next will also be able to issue parking validation vouchers to their customers, and members of staff within those stores will help with that.
Signage will be prominently displayed around the park to remind visitors of the arrangements and options for extending their stay. For fans attending matches, alternative options for match day parking will be available via the football or rugby club websites.
Deborah O’Donnell, Centre Manager at Vangarde Shopping Park said: “We are excited to be a part of the wider Stadium and leisure development and feel that their facilities really complement the stores and eateries we have at Vangarde.
“These arrangements will ensure that there are always parking spaces for our customers. However, we understand that often they want to spend longer here, so allowing parking for up to six hours with a validated ticket means everyone gets to enjoy more time to shop, eat and play.”
More parking information and FAQs, are available on the Vangarde website.
