CONCERNS may be growing nationwide about the Indian variant but latest Covid figures for York show extremely low case numbers in the city’s schools, universities, care homes and hospital.

The University of York reported that just ONE individual was currently self-isolating because of a positive test, compared with 331 last October, while York St John University reported NONE, compared with 82 last October.
NO care homes had any confirmed infections amongst residents or staff, and York Hospital had three coronavirus patients, NONE of them requiring intensive care.
The report also said that a total of 107,246 York residents had now had the first dose of the vaccine, representing 50.9 per cent of the estimated total population and 61.6 per cent of the estimated adult population.
It said a total of 56,154 CYC residents had had both doses, representing 26.7 per cent of the estimated total population of York and 32.3 per cent of the estimated adult population.
