A YORK-BASED firm, founded in the city almost 20 years ago, is to honour dedicated charity fundraisers at this year’s York Community Pride Awards - for the seventh time.
Pryers Solicitors are returning to support The Press’s Community Pride awards, as the official sponsor for the Charity Fundraiser of the Year category.
The organisation is encouraging residents to nominate people who have used innovative fundraising methods and put personal effort in to support good causes in the city.
Carmel Walsh, partner at Pryers, said: “Pryers have a long history of supporting the Community Pride Awards because we recognise how important it is to shine a light on the incredible feats that ordinary people in our local community are performing.
“Every year we are left awe-inspired by the stories of all the nominees, but Pryers have always had a natural affinity towards the Fundraiser of the Year award. We understand from the work we do to help severely injured people how vital that the services offered by local charities are, so have always been passionate about supporting them.
“With many charities struggling because of the pandemic, this award has never been more important. It’s crucial that we recognise the people who have gone above and beyond to help them during this difficult time, and we hope that their stories will inspire others to do the same.”
The winners of last year’s Charity Fundraiser prize were brothers, Joe and Harry Holland, who were inspired to take on a running challenge by Captain Tom Moore - raising £2,000 for the NHS in the process.
This year’s awards include prizes for Person of the Year, Spirit of Youth, Public Sector Hero, Sporting Hero, Volunteer of the Year, Charity Fundraiser of the Year, Child of the Year, Best Community Project, Health Service Hero, The Special Recognition Nursing Award, GP Practice of the Year, Doctor of the Year, The Mental Health Care Award and Carer of the Year.
All nominees for the Community Pride awards must live in, or contribute to life in, the City of York Council area.
Entries can be posted to York Community Pride Awards, The Press, 84-86 Walmgate, York YO1 9YN, or they can be made on The Press website.
