AN EAST Riding tennis club will be encouraging people to serve and volley their way around the clock during their '24 Hour Tennis Marathon' fundraiser.
Starting at noon on Saturday June 19 and finishing at noon the next day, the charity event, organised by Bubwith Tennis Club, will be raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, as well as the club itself.
Taking place for the third time, this event returns following a year’s absence due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Committee member and one of the event organisers, Lizanne Southworth, said: "The event promises to be a lot of fun and it would be brilliant to see lots of non-members getting involved.
"The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an amazing cause that is of huge importance across the entire region, so we want to raise as much as possible."
Rob Scott, East Yorkshire Fundraiser for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: "We would like to thank Bubwith Tennis Club for choosing us as one of the principal beneficiaries for their 24 Hour Tennis Marathon and wish all the players the best of luck for the game."
The Friends of Bubwith School – more commonly known as FOBS – will also be present, selling cakes and refreshments, with the proceeds from these sales going towards their work with the East Yorkshire village’s primary school.
Participants are asked to pledge a minimum sponsorship amount of £10 per hour per adult and £5 per hour for children. Book your sessions on the club’s website.
