I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with your correspondent Danny Golding on the subject of the cutting back of parking spaces for blue badge holders.
I have in mind the length of Goodramgate which for so long has been an ideal place to park, handy for shops, banks, and city centre necessities.
It was always well used and never abused.
Another example is Castlegate.
This is a disgrace. It was closed to blue badge holders simply for the two or three cafes along there to put out an array of tables, chairs, and shoddy platforms.
This in order to attract visitors, presumably those using the Castle Car Park. It looks awful.
We have an abundance of street furniture for eating outside - especially now that Parliament Street has much more outdoor seating.
Come winter who will want to sit outside in Castlegate? No one, but will they reopen it for disabled parking... no way!
