THE Covid infection rate has continued to fall in North and East Yorkshire - while rising slightly in York.
Public Health England's latest data shows a decrease in the rolling rate for the North Yorkshire County Council area in the week to May 17 to 14.7 cases per 100,000 people, compared with 17.2 yesterday.
The rate fell in the East Riding of Yorkshire Council area to 20.8 from 23.4 yesterday, but rose in the City of York Council area to 13.3 from 12.3.
The data shows that eight new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours in York, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 12,354.
