The £4,100 charge made by City of York Council to a developer for the removal of a few white line road markings is bureaucracy gone mad (£4,000 charge to remove two white lines on York road branded ‘obscene’, June 5).
It is not surprising, though, that in the city connected with Dick Turpin, highway robbery is still rife.
