A FIREWORKS display and light show in a York village, which wowed visitors last year, is back by popular demand.
The Autumn Lights event, was one of the few large events to survive pandemic restrictions last year.
It took place at Elvington Airfield on the outskirts of the city and will be happening again on Saturday, November 20 this year at the same venue.
Featuring what organisers say is York’s biggest ever firework display, a hot air balloon night glow, fire and glow entertainers, street food and drink, and a fun fair, it’s expected to be a visual delight, with something for all ages to enjoy.
Guests will be able arrive from 2pm when gates open.
The glow displays will then start when it gets dark followed by the balloon entertainment and fireworks with the first cars leaving the event at 8pm.
A full running order will be published in the coming weeks.
The balloon activity is weather dependant.
Oliver Webb, from organisers Collective Events, said: “Due to a phenomenally positive response in 2020, there is a drive-in element to our event.
“Cars will be spaced out, allowing guests to set up chairs and blankets to the right hand side or watch the show from the comfort and warmth of their own vehicle.
“This is great for those who still wish to remain socially distanced from others.
“We’re really looking forward to bringing back this unique and exciting event to York.
“After a complete sell-out in 2020, with amazing reviews, we can’t wait to put on an even bigger show November 20.
“Tickets are selling fast and will sell out so we’re advising people to book early.”
