History was made at the latest council meeting for the NEDL York and District Table Tennis Association when a match result was decided by a panel.
It was decided that University A' would be awarded seven points for their unfulfilled clash with Malton, who failed to fulfil the division one fixture which is likely to have a bearing on relegation.
Malton were also deducted three points and fined.
In round one of the Shepherds Trophy, a two-man Norwich Union side went close to beating RI D' but the scores were tied and the insurance duo were beaten on a points countback.
Mich Slezak won two of his singles, but he was held to a crucial draw by Tim Griffiths.
There was another keenly contested clash as RI A' overcame Bootham D thanks to Trevor Wright, who beat Horst Meyer 42-36 in the deciding game.
Steve Webster was unbeaten as he inspired Shepherds D' to beat Holgate B' 5-3.
Ian Stansfield won three points for his side as he helped Coneysthorpe B' to a 5-3 win over Sessions B.
NEDL/Bootham beat Holgate G' 5-3, while Stu Stevens was unbeaten for Shepherds B' as they won 5-3 at Poppleton B'.
