GANTON Golf Club duo Judy Adcock and Jenny Greenhough won the East Yorkshire Ladies Winter Golf Association event at Fulford GC.

The Ganton pairing posted a score of 67 to win by half a shot from Malton and Norton GC's Judy Butler and Linda Bower.

A further shot adrift on 68 were Gay Enos and Pauline Myers, of Easingwold, while York GC's Judy Eastwood and Val Crossley scored 69.

With Emma Duggleby and Judith Fishburn among three couples to score 70, their sixth-place finish on count-back ensured Malton and Norton still head the overall placing.

Fulford GC's June Hutt, who plays off a handicap of 12, holed in one in the club's ladies yellow peril competition. Hutt's ace was at the 106-yard par-three 14th hole using a seven iron.

  • York GC have appointed Mark Rogers as their new professional in succession to Andrew Hoyles.

The 36-year-old Rogers, who is currently head professional at Seaton Carew, is expected to take up his post at the Strensall-based club in April.
