UPDATE 10.20AM: Traffic has returned to normal and the road reopened after the earlier accident on the A64 Eastbound at Bilbrough Top.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called out 7.52am to attend a road traffic collision involving 4 vehicles.
A service spokesman said: "Police stated they were already in attendance and our Tadcaster pump was mobilised to attend. The crew assisted police at scene with traffic management and vehicle recovery."
TWO accidents on a major road are causing tailbacks.
There are reports of an accident currently blocking the eastbound carriageway of the A64 at Bilbrough with queueing traffic due to an accident at Redhill Field Lane at Bilbrough Top.
There is traffic congestion towards Hazlewood Castle with drivers affected heading from Tadcaster towards York, callers report that two accident have happened within the same stretch.
Students waiting for buses and travelling into college by car this morning, please be aware of major delays on the A64 Eastbound towards York the College. Please stay safe but expect delays to our services this morning.
