DRIVERS have been warned to stay away from a Selby district rat-run after police handed out 15 fixed penalty tickets to motorists in one hour.
Inspector Richard Abbott blasted the motorists, saying his officers could have issued one ticket every minute if they had the resources.
He said: "This is just one more indication of today's drivers' selfish behaviour.
"Their my journey is more important than yours' attitude is causing other people concern and alarm."
He said there would be further patrols in coming weeks.
Officers from Sherburn-in Elmet's safer neighbourhoods team targeted Wolsey Croft in the village after receiving numerous complaints from local residents.
Drivers have been using the rat-run to avoid the traffic lights at the junction of Moor Lane and Low Street. There is an access-only traffic order in place on Wolsey Croft.
Police and community support officers handed out 15 tickets in one hour - or one every four minutes.
