A FAMILY attraction has launched a permanent outdoor fairground following £500,000 investment.
Web Adventure Park, off Wigginton Road in York, has been hosting a special ‘Web’oween’ Event with Halloween themed family entertainment running throughout half term and up ‘Halloween’ Sunday (October 31) following the installation of 12 new permanent rides creating 30 new jobs.
The ‘spooktacular’, rather than scary, ‘Web’oween’ event has proved popular with families and children of all ages. Entertainments include a giant pumpkin patch with ‘pick your own’ pumpkins, magic shows and a family game show hosted by the Amazing Dazzling Darren, as well as unlimited access to rides, Jurassic Mini Golf and use of the huge Indoor Play Centre.
Twelve new outdoor fairground rides were first installed at Web Adventure Park earlier this summer offering entertainment for the whole family. The rides include everything from the traditional Cups and Saucers and Pony Express, to the more energetic, newly installed Waveswinger. Installed by York-based events management company, Events by Cynosure, as a means of protecting the Park’s future in case Covid restrictions forced the indoor elements to close again, the rides have proved very populars.
John Lowery, Director of Operations, Events by Cynosure said: “It’s been wonderful to see so many families enjoying our ‘Spooktacular’ event and we are delighted that the rides have been so popular following our investment to make them permanent and add a couple of new ones, including the Waveswinger.
“Introducing the rides has also enabled us to create 30 new jobs for local people, which is a huge positive given the challenges the industry has faced over the last 18 months.”
The Christmas Festival at Web Adventure Park will be opening on November 27 and running each weekend in the lead up to Christmas. The Christmas experience will include an audience with Father Christmas himself, meeting his Elves and his reindeers Donner and Blitzen.
The park is open daily, 9.30am – 6.30pm, with access to the Indoor Play Centre, large outdoor adventure park, water play area and animal zone. The fairground rides and special events are open on weekends and school holidays.
