THIS was the aftermath of a head-on collision between two cars that led to one man being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The smash happened shortly after 6pm last night on an unclassified road off the A1079 between Newton-upon-Derwent and Wilberfoss, to the east of York.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "The driver lost control of the car when going through standing water and aquaplaned into the face of another car travelling in the opposite direction. One person was trapped and an adult male was taken to York Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries."
The road was closed from its junction with the A1079 for nearly two hours, disrupting motorists who were sent on a three-mile diversion.
