UPDATED2.30PM: York Road has re-opened and the traffic has returned to normal.

 

A MAIN road is currently closed due to an ongoing police incident.

The A170 York Road is closed both ways with stationary traffic due to a police incident from the A61 Long Street to the A168 Blakey Lane in Thirsk.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and find altertive routes.

Police have now confirmed that a man has been air-lifted to hospital with head injuries after he was attacked in the street.
