A MAN has been air-lifted to hospital with head injuries after he was attacked in the street.

North Yorkshire Police detectives are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a man suffered serious head injuries following an assault near Thirsk Industrial Estate this morning (November 1).

It happened at around 5.35pm, when the victim was walking along York Road when he was assaulted near the second junction, heading out of Thirsk, that leads to the industrial estate.

As The Press reported earlier today, the road was closed by police, but it has now reopened.

A police spokesmansaid: "Officers came across the man, who is local and aged in his 30s, laid on the pavement with serious head injuries. He was airlifted to James Cook Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"Officers are treating the incident as an assault and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from anyone who was in the area at the time, including the moments before the incident.

"If you saw, or have any dash-cam footage of either the victim, who was wearing light coloured trousers and a black jacket or another man, described as muscular and wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit trousers who was walking towards the industrial estate, or if you witnessed the assault itself please get in touch.
