BOTH lanes of a motorway were closed this morning after a lorry crash caused chemicals to spill across the carriageway.
The leak happened at around 8.30pm today at junction 46 of the A1 between Boston Spa and Wetherby, causing large queues in both directions.
More delays were expected throughout the morning as the truck carrying the chemicals remained at the scene while police, fire crews and the Highways Agency made the area safe and investigated why the crash happened. It is not yet know what the chemicals are, whether they are dangerous or whether any other vehicles were involved.
The southbound lane of the motorway had been reopened by around 9.30am today, but the northbound route remained closed.
