VISITORS to a top York attraction are being invited to step back in time for Christmas this year.
York Castle Museum's famous Victorian street, Kirkgate, has been transformed into a glistening snow-covered wonderland for the festive season with a host of special performances.
Organisers are promising spectacular large-scale projections featuring colourful animations of Victorian puppets Annie and Tom as they go on an adventure to bring the magic of Christmas back to Kirkgate.
Fiona Burton, public engagement manager at York Museums Trust, said: “This Christmas we have decided to transform our famous Victorian Street into a magical stage, telling a seasonal story of two children looking for some festive cheer in Victorian York.
"Visitors will be able to stroll through the snow-covered street, peek into the shops and watch beautiful puppet show inspired projections adorn the walls as music plays.
"We hope we have managed to create a truly unique and magical experience that visitors of all ages can enjoy.”
A Kirkgate Christmas Tale will take place on select days from this Saturday (November 13) until January 2.
It will be showing Wednesday to Sunday, 11am-4pm throughout November and in December late opening hours are: Wednesdays and Thursdays until December 23, 11am-8pm; Monday and Tuesday December 20 and 21, 11am - 8pm and on Fridays 11am – 4pm with Saturdays and Sundays 11am-5pm.
