THREE siblings are all set to open their new shop this weekend.
Tom Calvert, 25, along with his younger sisters, Georgia, 24, and Olivia, 22, have turned an empty shop in York city centre in to Avorium - their very own store selling desk accessories and stationery.
They open their doors at 13, Colliergate, for the first time on Saturday (November 13) at 10am and will be open 10am-6pm seven days a week.
Tom said: "Getting ready to open has been really enjoyable and exciting, but as the day has got closer there have been a few small delays and stress levels have gone up slightly.
"As a family working together, we all get on well, we're all hard working and it's been quite smooth up to this point.
"Colliergate really feels to me like an up and coming street. We have met some of our neighbours and we've had great support from our friends and family.
“We have ten products, each available in eight colour versions, with the idea being that people will be able to curate their workspace, whether that is working from home or from the office."
The products can be personalised with everything from leather notebooks, diaries and folios to plantpots, phone stands and coasters.
All three siblings went to St Peter’s School in the city and live here.
Tom said he thinks they are opening at the right time in the run up to Christmas and the launch of their website avorium.co.uk at the start of the month went well with a steady stream of orders coming in.
He said the firm has teamed up with eco-business Earthly in a bid to offset their carbon emissions by 200 per cent by planting trees in Madagascar, the Amazon and the Congo.
Customers will be able to meet all Tom, Georgia and Olivia as they will be serving in the shop and Tom said he hopes they will be able to take on more staff in 2022.
