At Thanet Road, Ralph Tiplady's rink were in control up to the 14th end where they led 20-8, but then Ron Kirkpatrick's seized five successive ends to reduce the arrears to one shot before the visitors picked up a two en route to winning 22-20. York's only consolation came from Dennis Haw's team who had a fantastic 37-12 victory over Bob Howland's team and picked up a maximum eight on the 13th end.
