The family and friends of a young man who went missing during a night out in York six years ago today have marked the anniversary of his disappearance with emotional tributes on Facebook.

The last images of 29-year-old Rory Johnson-Hatfield show him walking through the centre of York at just after midnight on November 20, 2015.

No-one has seen or heard from him since – and despite extensive river searches and door to door inquiries, there is no information about what could have happened to him.

Moving tributes on the Rory Johnson is Missing Facebook page today pledged never to forget him.

“We all miss you, brother. Six years without your voice and not a day goes by we don’t think of you,” posted Chris Parr.

“It is six years today since Rory disappeared, please keep his family in thoughts,” added Caroline Lyons.

“Always keep a lookout for him. Will do so till he is home,” wrote Linda Mccarthy.

CCTV footage, recorded at 32 minutes past midnight on November 20, 2015, showed Rory, 29, from Skipton, heading into York along Tower Street with a friend.

Six minutes later, at 12.38am, the same CCTV camera picked him up on his own, leaving the city centre on the other side of Tower Street and crossing Skeldergate Bridge.

Another CCTV camera picks Rory up a few minutes afterwards at City Mills flats on Skeldergate. That is the last known sighting.

An anniversary appeal posted on the Rory Johnson is Missing Facebook page says that Rory had been in the Postern Gate, where he met two men.

At about quarter past midnight he left with one of the men.

“It was assumed they went back into town to another pub, but this has never been confirmed,” the appeal says.

“Despite extensive searches of the city’s two rivers, no trace of Rory has been found. Unfortunately, due to severe flooding at the time, the searches had to be called off many times.”

The appeal urges anyone with information to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference 12150207141, or to email Missing People at 116000@missingpeople.org.uk quoting reference 15-009621.
